Kulleroth
Willing to help, but only if it fosters peace.
A large island continent southwest of the split continent's southern peninsula. Primary biomes include boreal forest, tundra, and snowy mountains. Because of its cold climate, many inland settlements extend underground, making some of them much larger than they initially appear on the surface. Those along the coastlines will instead sprawl along the water by connecting well-built piers and boats to form makeshift streets. The northernmost parts have a slightly warmer climate, but still see much of fall and winter blanketed with snow.
Kulleroth is fortunate to have not been directly threatened by The Rift over the course of the centuries. However, with stories of deep underground areas in other regions becoming ravaged, some worry if their homes are now in danger. Alongside Gran‘Gol, Kulleroth acts as a mediator between Argdravar and the Crystal Union. While Kulleroth has always been happy to lend aid in times of crisis, they made a point of only helping innocents caught in the crossfire during the war and never participating in the fighting themselves. The nation does find itself wondering if everywhere else would repay the kindness they‘ve shown over the ages if they found themselves in a dire situation.
Stories are spoken of powerful ancient medicines and healing magic originating from Kulleroth, drawing those interested in the practice or study of such subjects to its frigid lands. Something about the combination of soil and climate results in the growth of unique and beneficial plants. As if to taunt any outsiders interested in attempting to take everything for themselves, the land itself seems to hide its treasures away from those whose intent is more ill than the sicknesses they wish to profit from curing. The locals who harvest and processes these plants are well attuned to the nature around them, and do their part to protect it so that it may continue to exist for generations to come.
Froziltans are the most common type of Rifter in Kulleroth, as they are quite partial to its cold climate. Mirtmings and Relyorians can be found where Froziltans are numerous here, as most of them are descendants of Rifters from the era of the Four Centuries of Struggle who escaped being forced into fighting for either of the two warring nations. Their sentiments towards both the Crystal Union and Argdravar don‘t tend to be favourable, but not much beyond a snide remark or two is likely to be made.
If the answer to an important question or decision is unclear, the people of Kulleroth will consult the very forces of nature that they are surrounded by. Rifters who fled to Kulleroth during the war quickly latched onto and adopted these practices, with one group planting a sapling of a special guardian tree native to their world. This curious tree readily took root and flourished in Kulleroth‘s soil, and it continues to stand as the only of its kind in all of Rivuzan. It‘s rare for settlements to find themselves coming to a disagreement when they must make a collective decision on behalf of their entire nation, but any such issues are usually settled in a civil manner. As needed, settlements send representatives to convene in one place and then return back to their respective homes to share what was discussed.
There has never been worry with Kulleroth‘s open arms, as they are more than capable of protecting themselves should the need ever arise. With the land they dwell on their side, they are confident in malicious actors being incapable of abusing their homeland. They are the only nation that people from the Verdant Isles entertain any sort of passing relationship with, thanks to their shared respect for nature and all it has to offer. The Crystal Union relies on them more than they do Gran‘Gol to carry communication to Argdravar for them. While Kulleroth is certainly aware of Huskmaw, their interactions are extremely few due to the great distance between them; either traverse across the Crystal Union, or travel very far across the open sea.
